Preserving the way of life, language and traditional physical culture of the Wanapum for the next generation.
Learning how to preserve, use, and make tools -- this is our living culture program. Participants gain knowledge so that the culture will be passed on to the younger generation. The Wanapum Heritage Center's Living Culture Program includes:
- Traditional Tool Making: Learning the processes of making the traditional tools such as flint knapping for arrow heads and projectile points, fish traps
- Food Gathering: Learning when, where, what, and how to gather traditional foods.
- Weaving: Learning the processes of weaving.
- Beadwork: Learning the processes of decorative beadwork.
