The WNADU travels to local events, schools and festivals to share the Wanapum way of life

Wanapum Native American Discovery Unit (WNADU)

The WNADU is the mobile part of the Wanapum Heritage Center. The WNADU is an award-winning, customized motor home that brings the Wanapum’s history and culture to your school, event or festival. Learn who the Wanapum are, their lifestyle of yesterday and today, what foods they eat, about their way of life, their stewardship of what is important to them, and how they maintain and perpetuate their culture. Inside the WNADU, visitors will experience a miniature of the old Priest Rapids Wanapum Village and many other Wanapum artifacts such as stone tools, mortars and projectile points.

This unique learning aid includes:

• the history of the Grant PUD and Wanapum relationship
• displays about Wanapum gathering, fishing, hunting and weaving methods
• historic artifacts from the Wanapum homeland such as hemp string, greasewood, beaded bags, buckskin hides, cedar baskets and tule mat

There is no cost to bring the WNADU to your school or event.
